Isaiah 58:11-12

Rev. Michael A. Alston, a native of Baltimore, Maryland was educated in the Baltimore City Public School System and is a graduate of Walbrook Senior High School.  Rev. Alston matriculated at Virginia Union University in Richmond, Virginia and is a graduate of Morgan State University, where he received a Bachelor of Arts degree in Philosophy with a concentration in Religious Studies.  Rev. Alston is a graduate of the Ecumenical Institute of Theology at St. Mary’s Seminary in Baltimore, where he received the Master of Arts in Theology degree.  Rev. Alston is also an active member of Nu Sigma Sigma Chapter of Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity, Inc.

Licensed to preach on December 11, 1983 and ordained on December 12, 1993 by the Central Baptist Church of Baltimore, Maryland, he served in various ministries and was also engaged in several ministries outside the church.
    
Rev. Alston previously served as Senior Pastor of the Pilgrim Baptist Church of Newark, Delaware.  Under his administration, the church experienced tremendous growth, adding new souls to the Kingdom and new ministries to the local assembly.  He served as Chairman of Home Missions, Chairman of Foreign Missions and Dean of the Congress of Christian Education for the United Baptist Missionary Convention of Delaware.  He is also a certified instructor for the COPP Program of the National Baptist Convention, USA, Inc.

In 2008, Rev. Alston was elected to serve as Pastor of First Baptist Church, Chillicothe, Ohio.  While at First Baptist, Pastor Alston led the church in two renovation projects to the church’s 170 year old sanctuary, making significant enhancements to the David Nickens Heritage Museum and other noteworthy accomplishments. As a community leader, Pastor Alston served on the Board of Directors for the Ross County YMCA and the First Capital District American Red Cross, as well as being active in the Ross County Unit of the NAACP.

On December 6, 2016, Rev. Alston was elected to serve as pastor of the Good Tidings Baptist Church.  Married for twenty (20) years to the former Davita A. Thomas, Rev. and Mrs. Alston are the proud parents of two daughters: Alexandra and Allison Alston.  Pastor Alston embraces his ministry to Good Tidings, based on Isaiah 58.  As the Lord commanded Isaiah, Rev. Alston comes to serve God and his people as a repairer of the breach.  His assignment will be accomplished by:  restoring the lost, re-building the church and re-energizing the community. The entire Alston family looks forward to a ministry filled with the excitement of God’s people and the presence and power of God’s Spirit!
